An old town with old roofs

Bishop's Waltham has been a town since the bishops of Winchester built their palace here, and the streets round St George's Square, the High Street and Bank Street still have the roofs to show for it: brick Georgian fronts, older timber behind some of them, and clay tiles and slate on pitches that have moved over the centuries.
